Madame Alexander Dolls

recently upon visiting a local toy store, Terra Toys, i wandered into the back room of the store to encounter a somewhat neglected seeming case of Madame Alexander dolls. i'm not sure if these dolls are still popular with children today- somehow i think they are probably more popular with adults. i wasn't really into the porcelain dolls as a child, but seeing this case really made me a realize the po

tential that i had for being a doll collecting, cat owning, antique shopping, bird watching old spinster. i wanted to buy all of them, just as much as i wanted to buy the dollhouse furniture in the case next to it.

i love how the dolls all have certain themes and direct or collective cultural references. this shit is straight up americana elitist kitsch. something about them is very posh, and something about them is very tacky.
