idea for a Great Balloon Catcher

I've been on this total balloon kick lately. I am fascinated by weight and volume, as they relate to space and color as well. Mylar is a material I have worked with before and really seems to compliment what I'm trying to do due to its reflective and textural qualities, so the fact that it is the the obligatory balloon material just seems serendipitous. I've been playing with them some around the house, and they are tricky. I've found that latex balloons deflate in about 12 hours, but they are sort of ethereal when they are falling.

This is an idea for what I am calling The Great Balloon Catcher. I'm still not 100% sure how it would work, but I've made some drawings for a proposal to illustrate what I'm thinking about.

I want to make a giant oddly-circular piece of material which would be suspended from three central points from the ceiling, and filled with helium balloons on the inside. I want to make the material itself out of some of the fabrics I collect in my color palette with a significant amount being made up of sheer or semi-sheer material. The reason for this would be to allow in light to the interior of the structure as well as allowing the balloons' reflection of the material to be seen from its exterior.

this is an image from a show that didn't really work out so well. Lack of planning is never really a good thing, but this is a nice little moment from the early stages.

the best part of getting a new notebook is decorating it

not sure about this

i've been playing this really inane but somehow addictive game on facebook called farmville. i've been working on honing in my farmville skills for a couple of weeks now and woke up this morning to find this glorious cyber farm awaiting me.i love farmville! MY FARM IS SO PRETTY! i get to be aimlessly ocd, arrange things, see things to (virtual) fruition and not actually get anything productive done at the same time.

i think farmville may be influencing my art:

maybe
